There is something special about staying at an Airbnb. Unlike your standard hotel, these gems have a little more warmth. They may not have a maid coming in every day, but they give you a sense of being in a home away from home, and thus are a bit more comfortable than your standard resort. Here are a few AirBnbs that caught our eye as being more unique than the rest, and ones that you certainly will want to explore if you are ready for a staycation.
Little Red Treehouse
If you have had a hard time figuring out what “sparks joy” in your life lately, you may need to go back in time to your childhood for answers. What better way to get back in touch with who you are by taking a break from the hustle bustle and enjoying some peace and quiet in a place reminiscent of when you were young. Maybe settling in for a weekend in a treehouse would do the trick. The Little Red Treehouse in Lyons is a quaint getaway perfect for two. Climb on in to this charming locale. The small balcony comes with a great view and is a perfect place for breakfast. Then, spend your day sitting in the sun, playing frisbee or cozying up in bed and reading a good book in the Murphy bed or up in the loft. There also are hiking trails and bike paths nearby or you can go tubing.
A Tiny Slice of Heaven
If you want to spend some time in Downtown Denver and are looking for a place to stay, you might want to choose this cozy and convenient hideaway only 10 minutes away. It may be small, but it is beautifully decorated and within walking distance to many restaurants and stores. Located in the suburb of Berkeley, this small house actually fits up to four people. Being different from your average Airbnb, this place is pretty hip and even has three burner barbecues for you to do some grilling out on the patio in the private courtyard. For everything it has to offer, it is hard to believe this unconventional home away from home is only 264 square feet. You can take a break at Lakeside Amusement Park nearby, grab a coffee at Tennyson St. cafes, take a bike ride around the lake or catch a movie at the Oriental Theater.
The Fortress at Pikes Peak Cripple Creek
Want to live like a mountain man, or woman, even for a little while? If you are someone who can’t wait to tackle nature head on, this may be the getaway for you. Whether you want to take your significant other along for a once in a lifetime romantic weekend or create an epic party for up to eight people, this home will accommodate you. The chalet is beautiful and has breathtaking views of the Sangre de Cristos Mountains. Imagine taking in the sights while sitting on the 600-ft wrap-around deck. The inside is also spacious and even has a billiards table. Of course if you are going to stay in the mountains, you probably are going to want to get out and explore them. There are plenty of hiking trees and the Garden of the Gods and Seven falls are not far away. Feeling more adventurous? Go white water rafting.
Unaweep Yurt at Thimble Rock
Ever stayed in a Yurt? Maybe you have never even heard of one. Well, for those not in-the-know, a Yurt is a small rounded structure covered by skins usually… yes, much like a teepee. So, by its foundation alone, it is a very different type of Airbnb, and certainly one that is interesting to try out. The Unaweep Yurt at Thimble Rock is fully equipped and the largest prebab yurt on the market. It is 760 square feet, believe it or not and has a full bath and running water. There are plenty of adventures here to explore, including hiking, horseback riding, biking, rockclimbing and more. The Gateway Auto Museum and the Gateway Canyon Resort are also not far away. But, the best part is the beautiful view. During the day, the canyon is gorgeous and at night the stars are spectacular. Sit on the porch and take it all in.
